After you have learned the Tai Chi Form and you have embodied the first principles of Push Hands, you may as a student of our school begin to learn the Tai Chi Sword Form (Tai Chi Jian). Learning the Sword Form means to widen your consciousness to the longer reach of the sword. Holding a sword challenges your balance and asks for a deeper root. Once you have learned the beginnings of the Sword Form it is beneficial to return to Tai Chi Form and Push Hands to deepen your roots, sensitivity and dantien awareness. Form, Push Hands and Sword are the three basic pillars of the art of Tai Chi Chuan. In this new course we alternate between these three pillars exploring them in more depth.
